Night Shift is the herbal tea blend we’ve designed for the Scorpio archetype. We named blend after the Lucy Daucus song of the same name.
Passionate Scorpio, the 8th sign of the zodiac is the fixed water sign, positioned in the deep seeding transitions of fall up here and equally deep seeding spring in the southern hemisphere. The seed is the impetus of transformation and it makes sense that these magical people inspire transformation in self and others. Scorpio season is a bottomless cauldron of processing and procreation, in previous signs the focus was on the self in terms of relationships and growth reflected outwardly in the world around us, scorpio time shifts the gaze deeply inward. For the scorpio archetype, the orientation pivots from the world at large to an exploration of the nucleus of all things, of the most intimate aspects of what is allowed in and out, on bodily, physical, psychic, and emotional levels. What’s allowed in and out is reflected in the physical body where Scorpio rules the excretory systems and cellular metabolism.
The deeply sexual nature of the Scorpio is far better known than their guardianship of the interior vents of the body. You many be more aware that Scorpio rules all the sex organs, sex drive, instinct to procreate, urogenital system, the sphincter, the orifices, nasal bones, big glands (thyroid & thalamus), metabolism, orifices, and excretory systems. An out of balance Scorpio might run into cold, damp, stuck conditions throughout the body…but specifically at the genitalia and organs of elimination.
To keep the scorpio body and psyche in harmony we’ve blended a warming, moving, blood building, wise, cleansing tea. Psychically we want to give these deep thinking, private, mystics some nice drying herbs to keep the seals of the orifices, sphincter, cell walls, and the tender tissues of the rex organs a little more taught for easier wielding by these watery people. We also focused on the kidneys as the major organ of elimination in this blend to help the transformations sure to follow the scorpio with clearance of physical and psychic debris.
Magical, tasty holy basil leads this blend and it is both warming and contrarily cooling, depending on the situation. Like the scorpion, holy basil can change to act the way we might need, moment to moment, in the body! Deeply warming, protein and mineral rich nettles are here to build the blood, gently dry out some tissues, and detoxify the body through the kidneys. We’ve added sweet, dense shatavari to ground the blend and it is a supreme ally for female reproductive system. Schisandra the shape-shifting and piquant 5 flavors berry promotes longevity and equilibrium in the body for these health warriors. Rosemary aids in digestion and promotes focus to get to the bottom of things. Pretty black cohosh with her gnarly roots is here to calibrate and sooth in the darkness underneath it all where Scorpio likes to get to the bottom of things. The digestive wormwood has been used throughout history to engender wisdom and instinct and as a digestive aid. And finally, sacred passion flower, to lift the spirits above all the darkness.
