Maiden’s Milk, an herbal tea blend for Virgo. The name is inspired by the Meat Puppets song of the same name.

We’ve blended this tea to sweeten the digestion and calm the mind of the intelligent and analytical Earth sign virgo. These hardworking truth seekers assemble the wisdom of the previous seasons and search for the best path to process the fall harvest of the Earth and the concepts introduced in euphoria of spring, grown in the heat of summer to emerge at last and be processed for fall! We think soothing the digestion, heightening intuition and nervines make for a beautiful and tasty ally to our service oriented virgos.

Virgo is an Earth sign, rules the 6th house of health, is mutable and is governed by messenger planet mercury. This practical and busy sign is very active and service oriented and wholly embodies the gut-brain connection physiologically and psychologically. We can really see mercury in virgo as they are responsible for assessing, discerning and communicating what a thing or idea or emotion is, where it goes and what it’s going to do. They are transformers and as such, a virgo not only needs their intellect, but the instinct of collected wisdom. Physically, the virgo moves down from leo’s domain of the heart to the liver, which makes perfect sense as the great processor of the body should be governed by virgo who archetypically does this conceptually. Virgo also rules the pancreas, and large intestine, spleen and nervous digestion.

Holy basil is an ancient nervine from ayurvedic canon, it’s both calming to the nervous system and uplifting which is key for virgos who can become overly critical in their perpetual quests for transformation. Hawthorn is a profound cardiovascular ally and I think is helpful for Virgos as the seek the truest path for growth and change to rely on their hearts feel that truth. Skullcap as a nervine is our favorite herb for quieting and focusing a running mind. Blue lotus is a very strong plant that helps attach us to intuition. And finally we bring it all together with some of the tastiest digestive tonics on the planet, lavender, fennel and licorice…licorice, by the way, also adds a nice sweet vibe to this tea without agitating the pancreas and the action of insulin in the body.
