Change is rarely easy, but it is an essential part of the natural evolution of life. The shifts experienced during the peri- and menopausal transitions aren't "problems" to be solved. Collectively, we can honor these sometimes uncomfortable aspects of our journey and remind one another that this season is not something to be "cured" or solely masked by HRT—though I certainly recognize that HRT is sometimes necessary, and there is absolutely no judgment there.
I am proud of this uplifting formulation. It is designed to balance the emotions and soothe the nervous system so that both our rest and our periods of action remain smooth and centered.
Caring for our bodies—through regular exercise, restorative sleep, and nourishing, mineral-rich herbs—gives us more room to observe this transition with grace. Menopause is a beautiful physical and emotional metabolic shift. As we accumulate experience and wisdom, our bodies invite us to slow down, to grow into this new chapter, and to share what we have learned with the generations around us. Let’s process the joy and the grief of our memories, digesting these experiences to inform the long, rich future ahead.
The Herbs
Motherwort: Chosen to ease physical and emotional tension, specifically held in the heart and uterus.
Black Cohosh: With its gnarly, snake-like roots, this is one of my favorite remedies for "dark, tangled thoughts." Together with Motherwort, it is traditionally used to help soothe hot flashes and ease sleep-disturbing night sweats.
Shatavari: Known in Ayurvedic culture as the "herb of 1,000 husbands," this is a beautiful hormonal balancer that is also believed to boost libido.
Chamomile: A gentle, classic ally for calming both the nervous system and the digestion.
Ashwagandha: Another Ayurvedic staple, this adaptogen promotes deep relaxation by gently soothing the nervous system.
Pine Pollen: This is remarkably stimulating without the use of caffeine. It holds the vital, evolutionary intention of the pine tree to thrive and proliferate. While often associated with male libido, its androgenic compounds and rich array of vitamins and minerals are excellent for helping women’s bodies find hormonal balance. I love the idea of receiving these trace plant hormones to nourish our systems at a cellular level.
Violet Leaf: Deeply soothing, cooling, and moistening for the body.
